  1. United Nations’ International Youth Day is annually celebrated on 12 August to address pertinent issues affecting the world’s youth population. The theme for International Youth Day in 2023 is “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World”.
  2. United Nations’ first-ever World Steelpan Day was observed on 11 August 2023, to recognize the cultural and historical significance of Steelpan, the National Musical instrument of Trinidad and Tobago, and its correlation to cultural, social, and economic development.
  3. In a strategic partnership, NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) teams up with Tata Play to introduce GSAT-24 which aims to augment satellite broadcasting capabilities and provide high-quality entertainment to every part of the nation.
  4. Sixteen-year-old Utkarsh Srivastava has been named Vice-Captain of the USA team for the ICC under-19 Men’s World Cup qualifiers.

  14. The Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance has launched Vivad se Vishwas 2 .0 also known as Contractual Disputes scheme to settle long-standing contractual disputes involving the government and government undertakings.

  16. On 7 August 2023, Oscar-winning American Director William Friedkin, who was famous for the films like ‘The Exorcist’ and ‘The French Connection’ passed away in Los Angeles, California, USA at the age of 87.
